Whoop·de·doo: if you want something done, do it yourself

It may sound a little foolish, but if you want something done, sometimes you simply have to do it yourself. You may already have heard of Whoop·de·doo, so forgive me if I repeat myself. It is a collection of intimate aids designed for women.

More precisely, it was a design concept which, much to my delight, won a national design award, followed by several other accolades. It appeared in almost every publication in the Czech Republic, as well as on television and radio. It even managed to irritate a former education minister from the front page of the country’s biggest tabloid. Then it travelled beyond our borders, appearing at exhibitions around the world and attracting interest from Hong Kong, the UK and Italy. At that point, however, it was still only my design—a concept that remained just that for a long time.

The story of Whoop·de·doo Venus balls

Investors do not have an easy time with us, but neither is the road to them neatly paved for creatives, artists and designers. After a year of dealing with investors of every kind—and there were quite a few—I did not want to hear the name Whoop·de·doo again. I simply had not found the right investor or partner, however much I wanted to. The next plan was to put it in a drawer and let it sleep. Fortunately, I was not allowed to.

I received countless emails. The bolder people even called to ask where they could buy Whoop·de·doo because they simply needed it. That made me happy, but I also hated having to reply: “You can’t buy it yet . For now, it is only a design.” I was sorry every time. Instead of filling me with joy, all the media attention deepened my sense of responsibility—to you, to everyone who had helped me along the way and, ultimately, to Whoop·de·doo itself.

I decided to treat it as an enormous challenge and try doing things my own way, with only the people around me. Just as I wanted to break the taboos surrounding intimate aids, I also wanted to experience the entire process: from design and production to presenting and distributing a finished product, then nurturing it and helping it grow. I wanted to oversee every step, refuse compromises, preserve the highest quality in every respect and, above all, remain true to the original design. I wanted to try it without managers, marketing agencies, distributors or investors. Without worrying about how things are usually done—or supposedly ought to be done. Without being swayed by the “advantages” of mass production in China. Instead, I wanted to use the manufacturing expertise available in the Czech Republic and offer the product first in the place where the idea was born.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honour to announce that Whoop·de·doo is now being brought to life in the foothills of the Giant Mountains. In a month and a half, I will be able to introduce and offer you the first model from the collection: Whoop·de·doo Venus balls—my personal favourite, as it happens, and a wonderful aid for women’s health.

If you would like to follow Whoop·de·doo’s journey and have the chance to purchase one of the first 500 pieces from the limited edition, do not hesitate to sign up. You will be the first to hear every update.

With thanks,
Anna
